Facebook Likes Face Fresh Competition
The most recognised symbol of Facebook’s social media platform, the ‘Like’ button is about to face some competition!
The latest news storming the world of social media is the introduction of emoji-style reactions – allowing Facebook users to express exactly what they think of the latest breaking news, video content or a company’s post.
Having tested the emoticons in countries such as Spain and Ireland – Facebook has given it the green light for the rest of us to come and play too. Users will now be given the opportunity to select an emoji that shows more specific reactions, including love, haha, wow, sad or angry … or you could always stick with your preferred Like.
Receiving more than 6 billion clicks a day, the like button is the engine of Facebook – showing how popular your page is and whether your content is worth a reaction. The big problem is that the like button is pretty one dimensional, leaving many users a little bit frustrated!
The mission for the team of emoji reactions is to add ‘a little bit of complexity’ according to Facebook’s chief executive – helping us social media nerds, advertisers and data analysts find out more about the people we are targeting or their specific reactions to a new product or company news, advertising campaign or viewpoint.
