Senior account manager Emily looks back on 5 years of Conker life

After joining as an account executive back in 2017, it’s fair to say that Emily’s seen a change or two at Conker Communications over the years. In this Edit Emily takes us through what she’s learnt, the standout campaigns she’s worked on and what she enjoys most about Conker life…

“I made the move up from London, where I was working in publishing, to Manchester in 2017 – I knew I wanted to build a career in marketing, but I didn’t expect to enjoy agency life so much! Starting at Conker as an account exec gave me a great base to learn the ropes, working across a range of marketing disciplines, B2B and B2C accounts – some of which I still work on 5 years later!

“Since then I’ve progressed up to a role as senior account manager, and Conker has really grown over the years. The team has doubled since I started, there have been two office moves and we’re now in a lovely building in Didsbury Village – not to mention netting some really exciting campaign and client wins along the way.

“I’d have to say that one of my most memorable projects was the Netball World Cup in 2019 – we won two awards for our work on this, which I’m really proud of. For me personally, it was a fantastic opportunity to gain more PR knowledge and experience, which has then stood us in good stead for subsequent projects like World Netball and our current work on the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby European Championship. Our ongoing work with EMD UK on This Girl Can Classes is something I really enjoy too – it’s a really exciting brand to be connected with.

“Another great opportunity I’ve had along the way is studying for my Mini MBA in Marketing with Mark Ritson, which took me from market research and targeting through to distribution and brand. It’s given me a great academic base to work from, and enabled me to support new Conker talent as they navigate the world of integrated marketing for our clients.

“It’s been amazing to be part of Conker as the business has flourished – Conker recently celebrated its 15 year anniversary which I think is testament to the whole team’s passion and commitment to doing the best work we can for our clients. Here’s to the next 15!”
