Celebrating Conker’s 15th Anniversary
We’re so proud to be celebrating 15 years of Conker and are very excited to see news of our anniversary hitting headlines in Insider Media, Prolific North and Bdaily recently! Raise a glass and join us as we make a toast to our wonderful clients and brilliant team for what’s been one heck of a journey so far!
In our anniversary year, we’ve doubled down on focus sectors, with client wins and key campaigns that underscore our reputation in both sports and lifestyle specialism and our B2B business bedrock. We’re thrilled to have made standout wins in the lifestyle space including EMD UK, the national governing body for body exercise, including a campaign to promote This Girl Can Classes. Aimed at breaking down barriers to help get women into exercise classes, this campaign plays to our sweet spot: we’ve taken a strategic view of the channels that work hardest to achieve our client’s objectives and married that commercialism with powerful content that chimes with the target audience.
In another round of sporting success, we were delighted to net the integrated marketing brief for the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby European Championship. Honing past experience in the sporting sector and a string of award wins, including CIM’s Best Use of PR for Conker’s campaign for the Netball World Cup 2019, we’re proud to drive awareness and engagement with this high-impact, adrenaline-filled one-of-a-kind sport. We’re looking forward to clashes, collisions and historic rivalries coming to a head at the iconic Principality Stadium in Cardiff from 3-7 May 2023. Bring it on!
From a back-bedroom enterprise in joint MD Sarah’s home in 2007 to a 14-strong team with an international client portfolio and central Didsbury offices, we’ve come a long way in 15 years – and we couldn’t mark the occasion without reflecting on some key milestones!
Martin joining the team as joint managing director in 2015 was a milestone in our journey as a marketing agency, bringing his board level experience from disruptive businesses in the utilities and energy sectors. Uniting the team’s brains to lead the development of our hard-working digital arm, Martin has used his energy sector experience as a springboard for nurturing long-term relationships with the likes of Tata Chemicals Europe.
While we’ve had laser sharp focus on sector specialisms in our anniversary year, our team’s ability to bring its broad expertise to multiple sectors is not without mention, allowing us to thrive and bring results for our clients through destabilising events including the 2008 financial crash, the global pandemic and now the cost-of-living crisis.
Over the years we’ve helped clients of almost every shape and size achieve their goals. Our long lasting relationships – some which span over a decade (and have been here for every step of our journey!), include much-loved Manchester institutions like Creamline Dairies and The Broderick’s Group. We’re proud that many of our clients are the result of referrals and our strong reputation.
Developing the team has been a real focus over the last 12 months. This year alone we’ve expanded by 50% in terms of headcount. Chemistry in recruitment is vital for us, it’s all about fit – and because of that we now have an amazing team, who are not only extremely talented, but who share the values that make Conker special.
As we’ve expanded, we’ve stayed true to Conker’s focus on quality. For years this meant steady growth, but we’re now reaching an exciting tipping point where we’re able to capture the ‘Conker magic’. We’ve worked hard to set processes and ways of working in place, so that we can accelerate growth, confident that as the team continues to expand, work will always have the quality seal we’re so passionate about and we don’t lose what makes Conker special – that spark and genuine love of making the marketing magic happen for our clients.
We’re absolutely delighted that Conker is standing strong, growing and flourishing after 15 years. We’re really looking forward to celebrating this milestone anniversary as a team, now in the next stage of our exciting journey as an agency. Here’s to the next 15 years of Conker!
